Design Process

Scoping…

Scoping is a very important part of what makes me a successful designer. Keeping all roles aligned means setting expectations and goals early on. I always document these decisions to stay accountable and have an artifact to reference if misalignment occurs.

Research…

Effective research is imperative to making great design decisions. I start with interviews to validate the reason for the work and uncover problems. Live insights inform how users have and are engaging, and I create baselines from these preexisting standards. The competitive landscape gives a lens into the current market and ensures design directions stay relevant.

Framing…

Lots of steps go into successful framing; collaborative brainstorming, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping to test, iterating, returning to research, consulting with design system and accessibility teams, (and more iterating) are some key parts. Hand-off of clear, standardized deliverables ensures the solution is implemented seamlessly and accurately.

…and beyond…

Just because a design is handed off doesn’t mean my job is done. I am involved in UAT testing and consult in debugging, implementation, and pre and post launch reviews. Additionally, I review items that didn’t make it into the solution, puzzles we had at completion, and the KPIs we put in place, and plan our strategy for short and long-term next steps and future versions.
